Harriet organises specialised itineraries in Prague, but particularly in the Czech countryside. She works across Central Europe, including Vienna, Budapest and Berlin. Other favourite cities include Graz, Ljubljana, Trieste and Dubrovnik.
The key to all of the itineraries is special access, private visits and encounters with curators, head gardeners, historians and other fascinating people on the ground, some of whom may not speak English, but Harriet has in most cases known them for many years and can interpret. Each day will usually include some picnic or lunch in a wonderful interior.
Recent unusual itineraries designed include: ‘‘Landscape Garden in Germany’, ‘Contemporary Art in Prague’ and ‘Chinoiserie in Central Europe’. Tours planned for 2022 include Bavaria for the Decorative Arts Trust, as well as Northern Ireland. Plus 'Liberty-era Palermo' for the Decorative Arts Society UK. CASTLES & COUNTRY HOUSES
the big draw for those who want to visit the Czech countryside are these houses with their interiors intact. Moravia (4/5 nights ideal) is a popular starting point, as the houses near Vienna are in many ways the grandest, but over 20 years many variants on an itinerary exist. In 2013 the Irish Georgian Society made a return tour around the Country Houses of Bohemia after their celebrated one 20 years ago – the very first tour that Harriet took - and then returned the following year - twice - for Country Houses of Moravia.
